- In 1996, the Company was established, firstly in Scotland, trading as Classic Scotland. The Company originated from a chance meeting of a small number of privately owned hotels who wanted to have more exposure in the market place and be able to compete more effectively with the major hotel chains. When the Company launched in the October, 8 hotels had signed up. Within 1 year, the number of hotels had increased to 42. It only took a short while for the trade to recognise Classic Scotland as a credible hotel marketing consortium, and in its first year of trading accommodated over 400 groups. In 1997 Classic Scotland launched its short break and popular two nights for one out of season breaks, as well as its first generation on line Booking website - one of the first to be available in Scotland.
- Until 2001, Classic Scotland's offices were based in Fort William. Due to the added demand for Classic's product, the Company moved into larger offices and relocated to Strathaven, 20 miles south of Glasgow. By this time Classic Scotland was by far the largest grouping of hotels north of the border with 72 participating members.
- Due to increasing pressure from both the Travel Trade and consumers for hotel stock in England and Wales, Classic Scotland launched Classic Britain in April 2003, as well as opening a Regional Sales Office near Manchester. Currently Classic Britain now has 81 hotels in Scotland, 6 in Wales and 24 in England, looking after over 74,000 guests.
November 2004 saw the launch of this, Classic's 3rd generation website, providing hotels, Travel Trade and consumers with a wealth of information and ideas.
