The Highland accommodation has been thoughtfully refurbished to a high standard and each room is individually furnished. They also come with complimentary tea and coffee, wall-mounted TV, USB connector sockets, modern fresh linen, fluffy towels, a hairdryer, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and hand/body lotion.

These bright double hotel rooms are located on the ground floor and are beautifully decorated to reflect the natural surroundings around the lodge. Their windows look out to the majestic mountains beyond.

Newton Lodge are proud to collaborate with local suppliers in the Highland Restaurant to create exciting and authentic dishes which we evolve as the seasons change or as we discover fresh new ingredients, many of which are found right on our doorstep. Whether it’s a stop off to grab a quick but tasty bite to eat or a long leisurely lunch to take in the spectacular views, everyone is welcome.

Local beer and lager, cocktails, wine, single malts and artisan gins can be enjoyed inside or out on the deck with its fabulous loch view. You may even find yourself engaging in conversation with a local character or two as Newton Lodge is open to all!

The deck and outside areas of the Highland Bar are fantastic for warmer days or cosying up under the stars during the cooler months. Our skies are spectacular at night and are not to be missed. We have tables outside so that you can enjoy more of those wonderful views!

Location & Directions

Directions to the Newton Lodge in Unapool

To get there, first reach Inverness by train, car or plane and drive two hours through breathtaking scenery, or come by sea and anchor in the bay.

By Car From Inverness (2 hours)
From Inverness, head north on the A9 over the Kessock Bridge.
Around 5 miles north of the bridge, at the roundabout, take the A835 to Ullapool (66 miles).
Head north through Ullapool (signposted Kylesku) and continue for 19 miles.

At the the Ledmore T-junction, turn left on to the A837.
After 8 miles, turn right on to the A894 (signposted Kylesku).
After 3 miles, look out for the Newton  sign and turn right down towards Newton.

By Air
Flybe and Easyjet flights from Gatwick, Luton, Bristol, Birmingham and Manchester to Inverness are reasonably priced, if you book well in advance.

During the summer months, there are some direct European flights.

Helicopters can land outside the hotel by prior arrangement.

By Bus
For long-distance overnight coach travel from London to Inverness, see the National Express bus service.

A local bus service, the Far North bus, operates the 804 service on Tuesdays and Thursdays from May to October. It runs from Ullapool to Durness and back (via Lochinver).

Pet Policy
Kylesku Hotel welcomes well-behaved dogs for a supplement of £15.00 per dog per night up to £60.00 per stay. This is to cover any additional cleaning. A maximum of 1 dog per room.
Dogs are very welcome in our guest rooms (one dog per guest room only), as well as the lounge and bar areas if it is not too busy but they must be supervised and controlled at all times. In your room we would ask that dogs are kept off the furniture and beds. Please put a ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on your door or let reception know if dogs are left in the room unattended at any time. Dogs can join guests in the bar however are not allowed in the main restaurant.

If you have an allergy, or would rather not be seated near dogs, please mention this when booking

There’s even a common seal colony and breeding grounds right on our doorstep, in the loch below Newton Lodge. One of more than 150 worldwide, this protected area tells the story of a unique landscape and geological heritage. 3 billion years of rock formations – the oldest to be found anywhere in Europe and containing the earliest evidence of life.
